1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using Escrod — including the Escrod mobile application and the Escrod web application at app.escrod.com (together, the "Platform" or "Service") — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the Service.
2. About Escrod
Escrod is an online marketplace with two main offerings:
- Tasks: connecting people who need tasks done ("Masters") with people who can do them ("Doers").
- Hubs: letting businesses and vendors ("Providers") list services and goods in a catalog, which buyers ("Clients") can order.
Escrod acts solely as a platform and a payment intermediary. Except for holding and releasing funds through the escrow process described below, Escrod is not a party to any agreement between users and is not the employer, agent, or contractor of any user.
3. Account Registration
- You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
- You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account.
- You must verify your email address before accessing the full features of the Service.
4. Tasks
For Masters:
- You are responsible for providing accurate task descriptions, budgets, and deadlines.
- You may accept or decline Doer applications at your discretion, up to the number of Doers your task requires.
- To engage an accepted Doer, you must fund the agreed amount into escrow (see Section 6).
- You release payment from escrow once the work has been submitted and you are satisfied it is complete.
For Doers:
- You must only apply for tasks you are capable of completing.
- Once accepted and the task has been funded into escrow, you are expected to complete the task to the agreed standard and submit it for review.
- You must provide valid payment details (e.g., mobile money) to receive payouts.
5. Hubs, Services & Goods
- Providers are responsible for the accuracy of their hub, catalog listings, prices, item availability, and the quality and legality of the services and goods they offer.
- Clients place orders against a Provider's listing. An order becomes active once funded into escrow.
- Providers must fulfil funded orders as described and submit the completed work or delivery for the Client's review.
- Escrod does not manufacture, store, inspect, or deliver any goods, and does not perform any service offered by a Provider.
6. Escrow & Payments
- Payments and payouts are processed through our integrated mobile money provider, BulkClix (supporting networks such as MTN, Telecel, and AirtelTigo).
- Funding (hold): Before work begins, the paying party (a Master or a Client) funds the agreed amount. These funds are held in escrow and are not paid to the recipient at this stage.
- Submission: The Doer or Provider performs the work and submits it for review.
- Release: The paying party releases the held funds to the recipient once they confirm the work is complete. Only then is the recipient paid.
- Escrod charges a service commission on transactions. The commission is added to the amount the paying party funds. The current rate is shown to you in the app at the time of payment.
- You must not attempt to arrange or complete payment outside the Platform in order to avoid fees or the escrow process.
- Escrod is not responsible for payment disputes between users beyond the Platform's built-in escrow and resolution process.
7. Refunds & Cancellations
- While funds are held in escrow and before they are released, an order or task engagement may be cancelled in accordance with the in-app rules for its current stage.
- Once funds are released to the recipient, the transaction is considered complete and is generally non-refundable.
- Refunds, where applicable, are returned through the same mobile money channel used to fund the transaction.
8. Messaging
The Platform provides in-app messaging so users can communicate about a specific task or order. You agree to use messaging only for legitimate, lawful purposes related to your activity on Escrod.
9. Shared Links & Public Content
Tasks, hubs, and catalog listings may be shared via public links. When you share such a link, the associated content (for example, a task title and description, or a hub's public catalog) may be viewable by anyone with the link, including people who do not have an Escrod account.
10. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or to offer illegal goods or services.
- Post misleading, fraudulent, or offensive content.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
- Attempt to circumvent the Platform's payment or escrow system.
- Create multiple accounts for deceptive purposes.
11. Reviews and Ratings
Users may leave reviews after a task or order is completed. Reviews must be honest and fair. Escrod reserves the right to remove reviews that violate these terms.
12. Limitation of Liability
Escrod provides the Platform "as is" and makes no guarantees regarding the quality of work performed by Doers or Providers, the goods supplied, or the reliability of any user. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Escrod shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential damages arising from the use of the Service or from dealings between users.
13. Termination
Escrod reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms. You may also delete your account at any time, subject to the completion or resolution of any active escrow transactions.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
